i made a super long scarf for fancy nancy’s birthday out of doubled-up extra-fine baby yarn in lavender and a baby-weight mixed navy-white-grey yarn. of course, i forgot to take pictures before/when i gave it to her.
it was made using alternating rows of shells and single crochet, done six times, with the outer border and rows done in the mixed colours and the centre in lavender. it ended up really soft and feminine, but not toooo girly, you know?
my favourite starbucks barista, cari, is due in March.
she’s always been a sweetheart to me and honestly, she won a place in my heart (awww, groan) as soon as i found out that she had gotten pregnant at the same time as i did, but due to stupid mother nature, didn’t get to have her baby in July.
when i found out she was pregnant, again, i started planning this blanket, made of 4 squares, sewn together and then bordered with shells.
she liked it (and me) enough to give me a thank you present – a starbucks mug, to add to my collection (i collect phat mugs – if it holds 2 cups of tea, i’m probably considering adding it to my cupboard-busting treasury)!
she’s since been put on bed-rest, due to high blood pressure and a suspected case of gestational diabetes, but at least she got to find out that she’s having a boy!
