you’re prolly not the nerd i am, but i’m all over the blogging blogs – tips, trick, themes, plugins, SEO, adsense, etc etc – i find it stimulating to think (and not do anything with) this information. i guess deep deep down there’s a techy in there, one even (gasp, stargirl), also excited about the opening of the new apple store. so anyways, darren rowse is having a group writing contest and i figured i’d toss in my entry since the prize is pretty sweet (a free theme regularly licensing for one hundred dollas), and it will coincide with my planned launch of the new blog in january.
so, i should get to this goal-setting business – and keep in mind, it’s in reference to the new blog, but i’m keeping that url under wraps still, so you’ll get an idea of the content based on the following…
2008 Blogging Goals:
- launch in the first week of january
- create and maintain a daily posting schedule
- review at least one book monthly
- monetize once readership is above 15,000 pageviews per month
- in the first month, earn at least 5,000 pageviews and 30 comments
- have at least one DIGGable (etc) post per month
- make it on the DIGG front page at least once
- by march, integrate weekly guest poster(s) and ‘feature people on the street’ items
- integrate ED Talk recovery journal into new blog after one month
- by july, be earning enough revenue to replace current admin work, should i choose to quit (it’s very low, it’s achievable)
- learn to customize (and maybe even build!) a theme by year’s end
- be ranked on technorati under 50,000; alexa rank, under 2M
- i’d also like to have a google page rank of 4 (or higher)
- the main goals, of course, are to make fun of myself, lead by example and build a supportive community of readers.
seems it was mostly crawford’s fault?
so, my new blog, the one that hopefully will get me off of working fulltime for parttime pay, is launching january 1st, if you want to provide a short quote (with a link to your blog) for the new site’s sidebar, email me. check the sidebar for my email address.
i forgot to mention earlier that YESTERDAY zoë peed on the potty totally by accident. it scared her into stopping mid-stream, hopping off, and finishing via a puddle on the floor. for the millionth time, i was happy for hardwood floors. they also seem to be making her head stronger…or she’s becoming used to banging it on the floor. maybe it’s nerve damage?
saturday is going to be the craziest day i’ve ever encountered. i have to:
- rearrange my furniture
- pack an overnight bag for zoë, who’s staying with grandma for the night
- make sure she gets a good nap and lots of mommy time
- deposit cash in the bank
- maybe buy some exmas decorations, though it can wait until sunday am
- shave anything that still needs shaving
- straighten or curl my hair. NO! there will not be hippy psycho freak hair at my
picture-a-thon bday party.
- makeup, at least freaking concealer. oh the horror of my winter skin.
- stock up for any predrinking guests
- or postpartying guests
- make sure there’s clean linens anywhere someone’s sleeping
- make sure my house looks at least 8 out of 10 for immaculateness.
i’m tired, just from writing this.
ugh, i have gotten 10 hang up calls in the last three days and today a rather weird one: a wrong number that the someone they were calling for, i was just speaking to a day or two ago. trippy.
oh it’s been what 13 days since i finished colouring my hair? yup, i’m getting roots already. next up will be trying this but i’ll give it at least another week’s breather, first…at this rate, it’ll be mid-back-length before summer. score.
