On putting it all away

The past week has been crazed, to say the least.

First and foremost is the double-edged sword of the new medication switch not being as effective as its predecessor. Without this, I wouldn’t have managed to stay awake for three nights out of the past ten, and thus get all of the holiday baking done within 12 hours, my fancy new site design 1 done and all of the presents wrapped and the furniture moved {again}.

However, I’ll still have to speak to psychoghandi about this at the next appointment since the point is supposed to be to, you know, manage the way ups and downs.

In amongst the sleeplessness, we managed a preschool party, complete with crafts! and red-nosed children! and a concert! {that will not be posted since Zoë was wearing a dress, sitting in the front row, with her legs acrossed. And if that wasn’t obvious enough in the video, I help it along with the simple words, “Zo! Cover up your crotch, dood!” Yeah. Not totally bloggable.}

We checked out some lights at Van Deusen Gardens, just missing the carolers, but in time for the rain.

And then, there were presents.

It was a nearly perfect Christmas, with just enough love, family, toys and special moments.

Needless to say, we’re spent.

And tomorrow, we take it all down, pack it all up, duct tape the boxes back into submission and stuff them in the storage locker, left only with memories, a few scattered photos and a dream of 363 days later, when it’ll be Christmas again.

Me? I’m swinging into full-on productivity mode, because this last week of not working has actually gotten the motor revving for more. More work, hours, money, the like. It’s set my feet stumbling along the path of goals in the new year and reset my internal clock to 2010. As far as I’m concerned, it’s time to power onward with meeting my own wishes, making changes and finding the little bit of happiness that I want to find, everyday.

2009, goodbye – you were a mixed blessing; 2010, I’ve been waiting my whole life for you.

I hope every one’s holidays were near-perfect, too. And that 2010 will be as positive and momentous for you as I project it will be for us.

  1. like it? Any bugs you’ve come across? Let me know, eh?

  • So, so cute you guys.
  • @maria: yeah, y'all got some cuteness going on over yonder, too.
  • She is absolutely gorgeous. Just like her Mommy.
  • @lou: aw, thanks. I'll have to find that woman, some day. :P
  • @Rob J: Sometimes, I wish I had given in on the whole myth aspect - it does seem like it would be tons of fun to watch her be excited about Santa. But, oh well, I have my reasoning. I hope your New Years is great, too!
  • @OHmommy: Why be secretive?! xo
  • Mine was good. My Girl had a great time, too on her first Christmas where the myth of Santa was a big part, and I made it through largely on the back of her enthusiasm. And I got a bang-up meal out of it, which is all I need for Christmas. :-)

Little Zoey is lovely, BTW. And that's a great shot of the two of you.

    Happy New Year!
  • Looks great Tara.

Glad to hear you guys had a great holiday. I am SO tired. Secretly happy that the holidays are behind us and looking forward to the new year. XO
  • I think the last picture should be printed and framed.
  • @MomBabe: I kind of fancy it, myself.
  • Oh, beautiful girls :)
  • @flutter: takes one to know one!
  • Zo is getting so big! Like, I mean, she's still tiny, but she's "Grown up" in her face a lot over the year! I hope 2010 will be the BEST YEAR EVER FOR YOU both!

I'm debating if I should take the stuff down now or not. I want to, but...:(
  • Heather: I think there's a chip in my brain, complete with the lack of space in our apartment that makes taking down Christmas the day after it okay. If we had a bigger place, say, with a separate living and family room? It'd be up until January!

Now...how many days until wedding countdown? Because that's what I'm waiting for, in 2010!
  • Love the PTFO shot. I know exactly how she felt. I hope 2010 is the best year ever for both of you.
  • @Tara R: And to you, and your family, as well.
  • Sounds like a good time on the whole. Hope those meds regulate for you soon. There's nothing worse than that waiting period.

Your kid? CUTE!!! But you knew that.
  • @Mad Woman: Unfortunately, I'll have to try something new - the waiting period's over, already. Thankfully, I do know that I have a cute kid. Mixed bag, here is.
  • Lovely pictures - glad you had a great holiday!
  • @Rob J: Thank you! How was yours?
