Hold him to the same standards you hold yourself as a parent. If he cannot fulfill basics like feeding her and keeping her wounds clean, then there have to be consequences for him. Until a court of law tells you otherwise, you’re in control of the visits, so limit them, withdraw them, then extend them as a reward. Keep yourself in control.

I would try to keep him as far from her as possible.
Even if he’s “just negligent”, negligence is a full-on form of child abuse.

Sarah and Mr Lady are right. Write everything down. Take photos. Talk to a lawyer. He may very well lose visitation rights. But that's better than the other possibility: she comes home with a broken ankle, or worse. She's your first priority, I know that from your writing. You're a great mom. Protect her, ok? Oh poor Isobel!!!Breaks my heart. You’ve had some great advice here.

Men in general are just not a vigilant as moms; but he’s being so stupidly irresponsible, there’s no excuse for it. Hopefully he’ll grow up if he ever makes her his absolute number one priority.

In the meantime, I agree with the others, talk to your lawyer and avoid longer visits/overnights as long as this type of behaviour continues.

I’ve seen some nasty splits, but the kids have always been older. Isobel is particularly vulnerable because she is just a baby.

You know it in your gut. You’re an awesome mom. Be strong.
