the broccoli-beef-rice combo didn’t work out. but the beef was awesome. honestly, it tasted fine, but it looked like something one would imagine is served to inmates in solitary confinement. wait, do they get regular food, cuz i just thought, hey, maybe they only get bread and water. anyway, it was gruel-like.
i made some fresh spicy rice and mixed in the beef and z liked it so much, she ate it for dinner yesterday and lunch today.
in other interesting news, we went to walmart this morning to window shop for xmas pressies for kiddos. that’s the problem with having a circle of mom-friends that your kid spends some amount of time with, on a nearly daily basis – you want to spoil those kids, too. but i’m being smart and putting a maximum dollar value on the other kid’s presents, except for my neighbour’s cuz his bday is also on xmas day and having a december bday, i remember getting screwed on presents (i still am). so he will not be.
oh, so my point? i walked around the entire kid’s section, including toys and clothes and furniture and came home with a list of like, 30 things i want to buy. aw. sorry, but the toys i had while i was growing up just didn’t cut it, and i was too busy reading stephen king and shakespeare. so i will make up for it via z and her friends, cuz i get to play with them, too.
additionally, it seems to be official routine that at least five days a week, she wakes up from her nap and screams for at least ten minutes. she’s inconsolable and honestly, pushes my away whenever i try. and man can she push! she knocked me over yesterday. even fh noticed today how damn strong she seems during these freak outs.
anyways, this continues until it’s over, because really, nothing works…except sometimes, if it’s exactly the right moment, she will take her juice and drink like she’s ran a marathon, draining half of a sippy in 2 minutes, and she will shovel her snack into her mouth in handfuls.
this is mucho concerning considering that a few months ago, she used to eat lunch after her nap and wasn’t like this when she woke up from it. a little while ago, i moved her lunch to before her nap, in addition to a snack and breakfast, and she sleeps for maybe a couple of hours, if i’m lucky, and then wakes up famished and parched.
what is up with that? yes, there will be a follow-up visit to the doctor.
