i’ve never really celebrated mother’s day. i mean, i grew up with my dad, so it was a joke every year that it was a day for him, in addition to father’s day. i was estranged from my mom, first due to her decision, then as i got older, my own. once, my second grade class prepared a mother’s day celebration, complete with art work from paper plates and strawberry shortcake made with sponge cake, strawberries and whipped cream. i think there was tea, too. i invited my grandmother. i literally just remembered the other kids laughing at me for that.
so i’m surfing my links and i come upon this and it freaks me out cuz for some reason, it never occurred to me that the cycle could continue.
what a trip it was to have everyone in the world say happy mother’s day to me.
