i can feel it comin'

a couple of nights ago, we noticed the first white bumps on her gums – teeth coming in. well, i noticed last friday and then proceeded to harass dr. daddy about it “did you see them? did you see them? go look! make her show you!”

this is exciting to me because a) it means i’m doing a good enough job that she is, like, going to have teeth and b) i like watching her brush with her little baby toothbrush.

this is sucky because a) she’s a biter and doesn’t seem to get the “no biting” comments i keep making. i think it’s because dr. daddy lets her bite his fingers. either way, my nips are starting to feel a little…weathered and b) she won’t just open up and show me her soon to be tooth.

this morning, i woke up to screeching zoë in my face, clawing my ears and pulling my hair while simultaneously chewing on my finger – what a multitasker (it’s FUN to wake up and immediately say “Gentle…!”). and dammit, i felt the ridge of a tooth. it felt exactly like mine do…bumpy and sharp.

this explains why it took her 2 hours to go to sleep last night – it wasn’t just being overtired. she was being stabbed from within.

give her some whiskey...that's what they used to do in the olden days when babies were teething. i guess that's probably why we have tylenol and orajel now, though...

She's adorable. My partner would let my son bite his finger too, so I yelled at him that it translated to the kid wanting to bite the nipple as well. Men...

How exciting! I know from hearing my wife's OUCH! that she's causing you a lot of pain. You're right, she's in a lot of pain, too. There's some homeopathic teething tablets that melt in babies mouths that we had some success with. They're very, very mild.
