dear brita

i know that germaphobes, people who like the taste of tap water, people who like cold water and lots of people in-between use your filters. i have a space-saving jug, which actually takes up about a sixth of my fridge and needs refilling every other glass. this is a mild annoyance, but the real problem follows:

why? why when i follow the directions on a new filter, do i still end up with little black flecks in my being-filtered water? if i leave a glass of water for an extended duration, it ends up with some sort of sedimant on the bottom. this does not instill confidence in your filtering ability, brita.

i am a new mom and i am a recovering germaphobe and your filters are complicating my life.

i think that you’re driving me to a cooler and spring water.

i just thought i’d ask.

  • I really don't think there should be sediment in purified water...

Yeah, I get that sometimes too. It disturbs me, but I take my chances and drink it anyways. If it's a big fleck I'll pick it out.

It's normal for a new filter, but if you have sediment in your water after the first couple of fills, something's wrong. But if it's just charcoal, it's nothing to worry about. That's my totally inexpert opinion.

I think it's bits of charcoal from the Brita filter. I think they say to ignore it. It's a healthy kind of black chunk.

dude, i totally thought that only happened with my brita!!!

we now have a fridge with a water purifier thing on it, but now instead of black flecks we have the weird white flecks at the bottom of our glasses, which i think is grosser than the black flecks.

Yeah what is with those little black flecks Brita?

I drink distilled water. It's supposed to be the best.
