petrified. that was me. having a history of miscarriage and knowing that until the baby can live in an incubator and you wake up with cramps and contractions and see blood in the bathroom, means that you freak the fuck out.
and then you spend the next hour alternating a hot water bottle and more bathroom trips and lying down, only to clutch your stomache and back and wonder, when do i wake the doctor up?
i did at 5am. we went to the er. they rushed me up to the maternity ward. the baby was fine, no distress, except for that he didn’t seem to like contractions and was kicking back!
4 hours later, we figure out that i have a previously non-symptomatic bladder infection, which has spread to BOTH my kidneys. which means that if it isn’t nipped, asap, preterm labour will REALLY begin.
so now, i’m home, on bed rest with cranberry juice and antibiotics and have to go back to the OB on monday, to double check that everything’s a-ok.
and those contractions? they’re merely a coming attraction. a fraction of what, hopefully in 16 weeks, i will get to experience. yay.
and the doctor (daddy) was so scared, he wouldn’t even tell me how scared he was.
